what books do i need to get a certification in medical billing and coding?

Our local college offers community classes that certify you in that—check with yours….
You need to complete either an associate or bachelor’s degree program in health information management offered at over 200 colleges and universities across the country. For a listing of accredited programs, go here: http://www.cahiim.org/directory/
Its not books you need, its a program or a certification course. Study all the books you want, but without certification the chances of you getting a job are slim to none.
Point of advice, don’t use the people who advertise on tv like Penn Foster, PCDI, etc. They will not give you real certification. Just a peice of paper that says you went to their school. Look for a legitimate place. Don’t get screwed out of $1400 like I did.
