Hey, I’m not sure why you haven’t gotten a job yet if you just finished the course. Maybe they don’t have openings or you just haven’t found the right place yet, give it time, you will fine a job im sure.

I did the same thing and never found a job. No one hires some one with out experience! Find a different field!

Try a therapy clinic (physical, occupational, urology, etc.). Small clinics are more likely to hire wihtout significant experience. Push other talents, like project coordinator skills, reception/scheduling to get in the door and then learn as much as possible. Many clinics will need staff to perform more than one function so the chances are good that if you can get in, you can expand into other areas. Also, just a quick note. A coding certificate/degree is not necessary or even preferred. Many clinics bill the same codes day in and day out, so the ability to “code” is over-rated. A person with exceptional people skills, organizational skills and the ability to keep errors at a minimum are more desireable than one with a certificate/seminar in coding.

I would focus on improving your resume to accent those skills mentioned above and start at a local, smaller clinic. Good luck!

I’m sorry that you’re having difficulty finding a job in those fields. The job market for medical billers and coders (and medical assistant) is tough to break into since there are so many schools graduating students while not having the vacancies. My cousin just unfortunately got laid off from her medical billing job of five years. For medical coding, most places want the person to have at least a couple years experience doing coding tasks and certification(s) to possibly land a job. Perhaps look for related jobs such as medical receptionist, medical records (health information) clerk, office assistant, file clerk (radiology offices seem to always have a need for file clerks) or such.
