I work as a file clerk in a medical billing office. I stand most of the day which is hard for me since I?
am getting older. The job is not mentally difficult. There is an opening for a sit down job as a biller & they will pretty much train me if I get it. The money is about the same. I would like the chance to learn a new skill & I enjoy helping people on the phone. My present job is not very challenging. What do you suggest?
I’m just afraid I might not be able to do it & then won’t have a job. I have excellent benefits with both jobs.
Both jobs are within the same company & building. Sorry.

It’s never to late to go for an opportunity you want. Go for it!
You can do it – go for it!
Based on your question, i assume that you would prefer to move?
Take time off from your work and go take the test for the biller.
If it’s an extended training, and it means you have to quit your first job, then what you should do is to find out as much about the other job as possible. Ask.
Such as: What are they looking for? Is it within your capabilities. Is it possible for you to ensure that you keep your old job until it’s 100% sure that you are accepted there?
Simply put. My suggestion is to make sure you are accepted for the other job first before quitting your first job.
on the other hand: quitting properly is a good idea too, so you would have the option of returning.
good luck
As we advance in age, its very natural to feel some limitation in performing physically more demanding works. I will, therefore suggest you to go in for such a work which you can do without unnecessarily straining yourself. you must learn new skills which require you to be in more comfortable environment.
Wow, you lucky girl! Go for it! You will be learning something new and challenging, and get more money, plus not have to be on your feet all day!
