I am taking a Medical coding course and was wanting to know if this professional pays well?

I completed Medical Terminology and am now taking Medical Coding and next will be taking Advanced Medical Coding. I was wondering if anyone doing this could tell me if this pays decently and what kind of salary I can expect. Also how difficult will it be to eventually work from home doing this. Any advise would be much appreciated.

Depending on your area the pay is good to better plus benefits. Many hospitals have set their coders up at home with the computer, software and supplies. Why not ask your instructor about this or go to a coding department. Tell them you are a student and have a few questions. They should gladly want to answer you. If not, you will not want to work for them.
In a doctors office w/o certification about $12 an hour. With certification about $15-$20 an hour. In a hospital about $20 an hour w/ benefits- it’s SWEET! : )
Working from home- it IS more difficult to land coding and/or billing clients, but when you do it’s lucrative. Usually pay is a % of what is brought in between 6%-14% depending if you code, and bill or just bill.
I hope this helps.
