How to become a medical coder and biller?

I am currently enrolled in the medical record coder class at my school. I must say I am a bit confused as to the progress of this? Once I finish up the classes from the school which I won’t have an associates, It will be i guess a certificate from the school. To become a professional certified coder do I take the Certified Professional Coder Program once I graduate or do I have to get an associates degree? Just needing help with what the steps are. Any help?

You could check with your school’s admissions counselor. Or someone who works in the medical coding department at the school. That’s what they’re there for.
