How long does it take to get certified?

About how long does it take to get certified in medical billing and coding? What type of certification should I look for? Are there opportunities to work from home in this field? Thanks!

Because Medical Billing and Coding is a popular occupation and is expected to continue growing as our health care system becomes ever more complex, it is also very competitive. Thus, while no rule says you need to be certified, you can expect higher pay and are more likely to be chosen for the job if you have a certificate in testimony of your skills. However, the education is particularly suited to online study; you can study from the comfort of your own home and expect to have your certification within about 18 months.
