Can someone help me to become a certified Medical Coder?

I returned to school three years ago and trained to be a Medical Coder. I graduated at the top of my class, interned at an Orthopaedic practice and was later hired. The problem now is that due to lay-offs, I was one of those that were cut. What I’m requesting is someone to help me to become certified because without the certification it is nearly impossible to attain employment. I am the only breadwinner in my family and need this certification to help me become self sufficient. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. The cost of the exam is $300.00 USD. This may not seem like a lot to some people, but when you’re not employed, it look like a fortune.

How could you insure that you’d be spending the money on the certification test?

    What if you don’t pass?

Have you tried with the welfare office or workforce in your state? Their goals are to get people employed. They might have the cash funds to help you take the test.

Get another job temporarily to pay for your fee! This isn’t rocket science! Sounds like your looking for a hand out, that’s why you don’t like the answers your getting.

Have you tried the unemployment office? Sometimes they will pay for training. It may depend on the area in which you live. The local library may be helpful-and being in the medical field, there are scholorships set up in different colleges also. Good Luck.
